Rajshahi: Home Adviser to the interim government, Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, declared today that the ongoing ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ will persist until society is purged of its so-called devils. “No kingpin and their cohorts will be spared during the operation. On the first day of the operation, five law enforcement officials were brought to justice. So, whether big or small, it does not matter-all listed criminals and wrongdoers will be netted,” he asserted.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chowdhury made these remarks while addressing journalists after a view-sharing meeting with divisional and district officials from the home affairs and agriculture ministries. The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam, Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Khandaker Azim Ahmed, and Deputy Commissioner Afiya Akhter were in attendance.
Chowdhury emphasized that all possible measures have been adopted to ensure that no innocent person is punished. He highlighted the roles of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and Legal Aid Officer in safeguarding innocent individuals who might face false charges. The Home Adviser reassured that victims of the previous fascist regime would receive legal aid, supported by both the home ministry and the legal aid department.
In addition to addressing law enforcement matters, Chowdhury also touched upon economic issues, noting that the prices of essential commodities would remain stable during the upcoming Ramadan. He confirmed that there is currently no crisis regarding fertilizer availability.
