Kathmandu: Over a dozen government offices in Jhapa were vandalized and set on fire today during protests by Gen Z. There have been incidents of arson and vandalism at the homes of CPN (UML) chair KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress general secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma, former general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the homes of federal and provincial lawmakers, mayors and deputy mayors of local level governments, and district-level leaders of political parties were vandalized and set on fire. Additionally, the party offices of UML, Nepali Congress, and CPN (Maoist Centre) in the district also experienced arson and vandalism.
Although the Jhapa District Administration Office issued a prohibitory order early in the morning, a group of Gen Z youths violated this order, causing damage to dozens of government offices and other physical structures in Jhapa. The Gen Z youth group, which has been active since morning, staged a protest in Birtamod.
