Pakistani Parliamentarians’ Delegation Engages with Speaker Ghimire in Kathmandu


Kathmandu: A visiting parliamentary delegation from Pakistan called on Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, during an official meeting at Singha Durbar. The delegation’s visit was part of their participation in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region Parliamentarians’ Meet-2025, which concluded in Kathmandu on Tuesday.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Speaker Ghimire warmly welcomed the Pakistani delegation, led by Munaza Hassan, and emphasized the longstanding friendly relations between Nepal and Pakistan. He highlighted the potential for strengthening regional cooperation in areas such as climate change, sustainable development, and addressing challenges faced by mountain communities due to climate change. Speaker Ghimire urged that these issues be embraced as a shared regional agenda, advocating for a collective response.



He further elaborated on opportunities for enhancing trade, connectivity, and tourism between the two countries, suggesting that parliamentary cooperation could be pivotal in achieving these goals. The leader of the Pakistani delegation congratulated Nepal on successfully hosting the meet and commended the country’s efforts in mitigating climate change impacts and conserving mountain ecosystems.
