Paturia: Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the river Padma resumed after a 3.30-hour suspension due to dense fog disruption, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury stated that five ferries-Beer Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, Dhaka, Keramot Ali, Kopoti, and Beer Shreshtha Jahangir-were waiting at Paturia Ghat. Meanwhile, three ferries-Beer Shreshtha Ruhul Amin, Shaheed Borkot, and Vigar-were at Daulatdia Ghat, while two ferries, Hasna Hena and Shah Poran, were anchored in the middle of the Padma.
The ferry movement started at 7.30 am on Thursday, as confirmed by BIWTC Paturia Ghat sources. The ferry movement resumed after a 4.50-hour disruption on the Aricha-Kazirhat route in the river Jamuna, as reported by BIWTC Aricha Ghat sources.
BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah reported that all ferry movements were suspended for 4.50 hours from 1.40 am to 6.30 am due to dense fog blanketing the riverbed. The ferry movement became normal once the dense fog dissipated.
