Dhaka: Principal Information Officer (PIO) Md Nizamul Kabir today urged the public relations officers (PROs) of different ministries and departments to disseminate news giving priority on the matter of public importance. He made the call at a day-long internal training on modern public relations strategies, concepts, and development at the conference room of the Press Information Department (PID) at Bangladesh Secretariat here, said an official handout.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the PIO emphasized organizing press conferences, publishing press information statements, and increasing the use of social media. He highlighted the importance of applying modern public relations techniques in preparing press releases, stating that disseminating news on various important activities of the concerned adviser is one of the responsibilities of the public relations officers of the particular ministry.
Additionally, the PIO stressed the importance of publishing news related to public interest and development activities of their respective ministries through media, urging officials to maintain objectivity in preparing press releases. He directed the PROs to disseminate news on the declining trend of prices of essentials, improvement of law and order, progress of treatment of those injured in the anti-discrimination student movement, and different steps taken by the government to this end.
Addressing the spread of rumors, Nizamul noted that preventing disinformation is a significant challenge in the current era of information technology. He expressed his expectation that public relations officers would play a responsible role in preventing rumors related to their respective ministries.
Regarding the Youth Festival-2025, the PIO mentioned that PROs should prioritize collecting and disseminating news related to the Youth Festival celebrations of the concerned ministries. He also encouraged public relations officers to write features and articles on the Youth Festival.
Senior Deputy PIO (Press) M Javed Iqbal and Deputy PIO (Administration and Finance) Mohammad Ali Sarker were present on the occasion.
