Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called for policy measures to make foreign employment both safe and freely accessible. During an event marking the 18th establishment day of the Foreign Employment Board, she emphasized the importance of ensuring transparency and dignity in the sector.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Prime Minister underscored the necessity of implementing measures for the respectful reintegration of foreign employment returnees into their families, along with guaranteeing their social security. As the Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, and Chair of the Board, she highlighted the importance of skill training for those pursuing opportunities abroad.
Prime Minister Karki noted the government’s strategy to channel the capital, skills, technology, and experiences acquired from foreign employment into domestic productive sectors. She also praised the Call Center and telemedicine services initiated by the Board, which have been beneficial for the welfare of foreign workers.
The Prime Minister further stressed the need to create decent job opportunities within Nepal, focusing on skills-based entrepreneurship and reintegration programmes. She instructed the Ministry to formulate and execute an action plan to achieve these goals.
