PM Karki Commits State Resources to Safeguard Citizens Amid Disaster


Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has announced the deployment of all state resources to protect citizens from risks during the ongoing disaster situation. In a video message addressed to the nation, she emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety amidst continuous heavy rainfall affecting the country since the evening of October 3.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Karki urged citizens to adhere to safety instructions provided by state agencies and to remain vigilant as the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology forecasts continued rainfall for the next two days. Highlighting the increased risks of floods, landslides, and erosion, she reassured the public of the government’s round-the-clock efforts to manage rescue and relief operations.



PM Karki also informed that state agencies are actively monitoring highways and other infrastructure to mitigate risks. She advised citizens to stay put, avoid unnecessary travel, and prioritize safety by assessing risks before undertaking any activities. As a precautionary measure, the government has declared a public holiday across the country on Sunday and Monday, urging the public to follow instructions from the police and other relevant authorities.
