PM Karki Urges Nationwide Support for Successful Election


Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on all political parties, civil society, media, and stakeholders to extend support in making the upcoming election successful. In her address to the nation on Thursday evening, PM Karki emphasized the government’s focus on holding the March 5 election in a free and fair atmosphere. She urged all Nepali citizens to participate in the election to the House of Representatives and elect qualified representatives who align with the youths’ ambition for change, stressing the necessity of a peaceful environment for the election.



According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Karki mentioned ongoing discussions with the Election Commission about the feasibility of conducting voting from abroad, considering the large number of Nepalis engaged in foreign jobs. The government is committed to protecting the rights of Nepali workers to hold decent jobs abroad and addressing the issues raised by the Non-Resident Nepalis.



The Prime Minister also highlighted amendments to voting laws to ensure voting rights for Gen-Z youths who are 18 years old. Financial assistance has been arranged for the families of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protest, with the deceased being declared martyrs. The injured were provided with free treatment and medicine. PM Karki vowed to hold accountable those responsible for the deaths of youths and Gen-Z students.



In her address, PM Karki paid tribute to those who died during the protest and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. She expressed deep sorrow over the significant and irreversible loss of lives and property.
