PM Oli Asserts Nepal’s Stance on Lipulek Dispute with China


Lalitpur: Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has affirmed that Nepal has lodged an objection with China regarding the agreement between China and India to designate the Nepali territory of Lipulek as a trade route.



According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli conveyed Nepal’s disapproval of the agreement during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which took place during his visit to China from August 30 to September 3. The Prime Minister emphasized that he has been communicating Nepal’s position on the Lipulek dispute to both China and India.



While inaugurating the party’s Second Statute Convention at the Sunrise Conference Hall in Lalitpur, PM Oli reiterated that Nepal has not supported China’s Global Security Initiative (GSI). This statement underlines Nepal’s stance on maintaining sovereignty over the Lipulek region and its cautious approach towards international security initiatives.
