PM Oli Discussing Chemical Fertilizer Supply with Agriculture Minister

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is engaging in a discussion with the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, the secretary, and other concerned officials to address issues related to the supply of chemical fertilizers.

According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli has summoned Agriculture Minister Ram Nath Adhikari, Secretary Govinda Prasad Sharma, and officials from the Agricultural Materials Company Limited to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The meeting aims to ensure a smooth supply of chemical fertilizers and to review the current status of paddy plantation.

The initiative comes in response to complaints from farmers across various regions regarding the scarcity of essential fertilizers needed for paddy plantation. Despite reports indicating that there is fertilizer available in the country and ongoing imports, the shortage persists.

Previously, PM Oli instructed stakeholders to resolve the fertilizer shortage, develop a plan to establish a chemical fertilizer factory domestically, and encourage increased production using compost.
