Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today took to a social site, expressing his sorrow over the passing of renowned singer Indira Gole Gurung. In his message, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the lovers of Nepali folk music and paid tribute to the late singer, recognizing her contribution to Nepali folk music.
According to National News Agency Nepal, in his Facebook post, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the significance of Tamang Selo, a major genre in Nepali folk music. He expressed his sadness over the loss of Indira Gole Gurung, who was known for her achievements and identity in the realm of Nepali folk music, particularly in the Tamang Selo genre.
Gurung, who had been battling cancer for a long time, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 48.
