Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) has resolved to make Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s forthcoming visit to China productive and ensure that it serves to fulfill Nepal’s national interests. UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali disclosed that during a secretariat meeting held at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, it was decided to prioritize the success of the Prime Minister’s visit to China, emphasizing the importance of national interests.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Gyawali highlighted the focus on implementing high-level agreements that were signed during the visits of the Chinese President to Nepal and the Nepalese Prime Minister to China. He stated that discussions would also cover other bilateral matters, aiming to ensure the visit aligns with the maximum national interest of Nepal.
Gyawali mentioned that the government has reviewed its four-month performance, concluding that operations are proceeding smoothly. A mechanism has been established to enhance understanding and coor
dination between the Nepali Congress and the UML for future collaborations.
The meeting also approved the names of party-nominated candidates for the upcoming by-elections, instructing party committees to concentrate efforts on the December 1 elections. Deputy General Secretary Gyawali announced that UML will compete independently in these elections and engage in healthy competition with ruling parties, with possibilities of local-level cooperation with other political entities.
Furthermore, the meeting ratified the candidacy of several individuals for various municipal positions, including Dr. Surendra Manandhar for Kirtipur’s mayoral post, among others. It also endorsed the provincial committee’s actions against former Koshi province minister Lilaballabh Adhikari, expressing support for a thorough investigation into allegations against him.
Lastly, the party has called upon its people’s committee and liaison forum to aid in the success of an awareness gathering organized by district committees in Kathman
du, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur on November 22, and expressed sorrow over the passing of its central adviser, Devi Pokhrel.
