Pokhara to Host Dashain Tourism and Cultural Festival on October 25

Pokhara:A ‘Dashain Tourism and Cultural Festival’ is set to take place in Pokhara, aiming to provide visitors with an immersive experience of Nepali culture and traditions.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the festival will occur on October 25, coinciding with Kojagrat Purnima, at Barahi Ghat ground in Lakeside. The event, themed ‘Tika, Jamara and Kite Flying-Celebrating Dashain with Tourists in Pokhara,’ is coordinated by Uma Bhandari.

Organized by the Women Tourism Entrepreneurs Forum (WOTEF), the event seeks to extend Dashain beyond a family celebration, offering both domestic and international tourists the chance to experience Nepali customs, food, and lifestyle. Tourists will be welcomed with tika and jamara, and can participate in a kite-flying competition.

The festival will also include traditional cultural performances from various ethnic groups and communities. Visitors will have the chance to taste traditional Nepali cuisines and explore local products, handicrafts, and tourism-related businesses.

Pokhara Tourism Council Chairperson Hari Bhujel noted that linking Dashain with tourism would help promote both the cultural heritage and tourism sector of Pokhara. WOTEF Founding Chairperson Jamuna Parajuli highlighted the festival as an opportunity to showcase Pokhara’s culture and identity.

WOTEF Chairperson Mamata Neupane emphasized that the festival would allow visitors to experience not only the natural beauty of Pokhara but also its art, culture, and traditions.
