Police Nab 10 for Damak Police Station Attack


Damak: Police have arrested ten individuals suspected of involvement in the torching and vandalizing of the Area Police Office in Damak during the Gen Z protest held on September 8-9. The arrests include two youths from Chulachuli in Ilam, identified as Nakul Adhikari, 22, and Riyaz Silwal, 19. They were apprehended on Sunday night as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. With these arrests, the total number of individuals detained for the attack has reached four, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.



According to National News Agency Nepal, another suspect, Sajan Luhagun, 21, from Miklajung-5 in Panchthar, who currently resides in Damak-5, was arrested two days ago on charges of vandalizing the police office. The Jhapa police have intensified efforts to arrest those involved in the violence during the Gen Z protest. So far, four individuals have been detained from Damak and six from Birtamod, with further investigations underway.



The police have been able to identify the persons involved in the wrongdoing with the help of videos and photos from the protest. Complaints have been filed against more than 50 individuals accused of torching and vandalizing public and private property during the violent protest, as reported by the police.
