Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has announced that efforts are in progress across the three-tier governments to operationalize 55 basic hospitals. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and services at the local level.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Paudel addressed the House of Representatives, responding to queries from lawmakers regarding the status of these healthcare facilities. He emphasized that programs are being implemented to activate basic hospitals already handed over to local authorities. The minister assured that preparations for dispatching doctors and medical equipment to these hospitals are underway, with commitments from the ministry being fulfilled in a timely and procedural manner.
Minister Paudel acknowledged existing challenges, noting that some hospitals, despite being completed, face operational delays due to unresolved procedural issues. Highlighting the situation in Banke district, he mentioned that a basic hospital constructed in Sonari Narainapur-4 has achieved full physical progress but awaits formal handover. The Health Minister expressed confidence that the hospital will become operational once this process is completed.
