Doha: President Ramchandra Paudel has arrived in Doha to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled from November 4 to 6. He is leading a 12-member Nepali delegation at the invitation of the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
According to National News Agency Nepal, high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Nepali Embassy in Qatar, including Ramesh Chandra Poudel and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, welcomed President Paudel upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport.
President Paudel is set to address the Plenary Meetings and the High-Level Roundtable of the Summit on November 4. He is also scheduled to hold meetings with the UN Secretary-General and the Amir of Qatar. Additionally, the President will engage with other world leaders attending the event.
The Summit aims to make a shared commitment to cooperation and assistance for social development, addressing development inequalities, demographic imbalances, and the impacts of technology on society. The First World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.
President Paudel is accompanied by his spouse Sabita Paudel, Kiran Kumar Pokhrel, the media expert to the President, the Secretary of the President’s Office, and other senior officials from the Government of Nepal. The delegation is expected to return to Kathmandu on November 6.
