President Urges Government to Prioritize Promotion, Preservation of Art, Culture and Heritage


Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the government should prioritize the preservation and development of Nepal’s ancient and historical art, culture, heritage, and resources to promote the country to the world. Inaugurating the art exhibition under the Nepal Art and Culture Festival 2082 organized by the Nepal Art Council, he emphasized that everyone should be active in the development, expansion, and preservation of our languages, arts, and culture by taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the democratic system.



According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel highlighted that all sectors, classes, and professions can get equal opportunity for progress and development in a democratic governance system, which he described as the beautiful aspect of democracy. He urged everyone to actively engage in the development, expansion, and preservation of languages, arts, and cultures by utilizing the opportunities provided.



He noted that millions of tourists come to Nepal annually to study, conduct research, and observe ancient and historical heritage, art, and cultural assets in various regions, stressing the necessity for heritage lovers to remain vigilant in preservation efforts.



President Paudel expressed the view that extensive promotion, both domestically and abroad, could attract local and foreign tourists and businesses to Nepali art, culture, and heritage, contributing to the country’s prosperity through tourism. He remarked on the global fame of Nepal’s artworks and cultural heritage, asserting that it is a matter of pride that these serve as indicators of Nepali civilization and hold a distinctive position in the world.



The President stated that Nepali language, art, culture, and heritage are the nation’s pride, identity, and dignity. He emphasized the collective responsibility of the government and private institutions to preserve and promote the centuries-old arts, culture, and heritage. President Paudel expressed his pleasure in inaugurating the festival organized with the participation of private, government, and public sectors under the Nepal Art Council’s initiative.



He concluded with a hopeful note, expressing his belief that with collective cooperation, a solid foundation for sustainable development of the country’s tourism sector will be established.
