Press Council Takes Action Against 10 More YouTube Channels.

Kathmandu: Press Council Nepal on Monday took action against ten more YouTube channels and social site users for disseminating unverified, misleading, and fabricated content. Most of these YouTube channels are unregistered. In addition, it has recommended that the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police investigate social media users found violating the code of conduct.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Council is actively monitoring objectionable content on social media as part of its effort to combat misinformation and raise public awareness. Ramsharan Bohara, the Council’s Joint Spokesperson and information officer, emphasized the importance of this initiative, given the rise of fabricated, one-sided, and unverified content capable of promoting hate and revenge through YouTube channels and Facebook pages.

Earlier, on November 19, the Council had taken action against nine YouTube channels for disseminating inaccurate and fabricated content, accusing them of promoting anarchy. The Council’s statement asser
ts that the full implementation of the freedom of the press, as guaranteed by the Constitution, is necessary to systematize the communications sector, making it more credible, decent, and prestigious.
