Prohibitory Order and Curfew Imposed in Kathmandu Valley for Security Reasons

Kathmandu: The prohibitory order and curfew have been extended in the Kathmandu Valley for the security of people and property. The Nepali Army (NA) has imposed a prohibitory order effective from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, while the curfew will be in force from 7:00 pm Friday to 6:00 am Saturday. The decision was taken after the meeting of the security committees of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts.

According to National News Agency Nepal, for the convenience of conducting essential activities, time from 6:00 am to 11:00 am, and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm is allocated on Friday. During the restriction and curfew enforcement, essential service vehicles, including ambulances, hearses, fire engines, and vehicles for food supply, milk, water, medicine, and media, as well as health workers, would be allowed to operate.

Employees of government offices, the National Human Rights Commission, and banking and financial institutions can produce their original identity cards to go to offices. Those who have purchased flight tickets can move to airports by showing their tickets. For convenience, everyone is requested to coordinate with nearby security persons or offices.

Similarly, in districts outside the Kathmandu Valley, the related district security committees will make the decisions. The NA has appealed to all sides to extend cooperation to the security personnel for the sake of security and humanitarian rescue. In the allocated time, people are requested not to conduct any activity like rallies, demonstrations, or picketing except for essential works of religious and cultural rites.
