Province Assembly Examines Dalit Rights Bill Amid Calls for Revisions

Kathmandu: The Koshi Province Assembly meeting on Tuesday engaged in theoretical discussions regarding a bill focused on Dalit rights. Assembly members examined the draft, recognizing the need for amendments while acknowledging its relevance.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Assembly Members Kisor Chandra Dulal, Maiya Shrestha, Radha Krishna Khanal, and Shova Chemjong participated in the deliberations. They emphasized the necessity of strengthening the bill, citing persistent societal practices despite constitutional prohibitions on untouchability and caste-based discrimination.

Furthermore, Gombu Sherpa, the Internal Affairs and Law Minister of Koshi Province, stated that the provincial government is striving to deliver relief to those impacted by disasters.
