Kathmandu: Remittance inflows in Nepal have surged by 35.4 percent, reaching Rs 553.31 billion in the first three months of Fiscal Year 2025/26, compared to a 11.9 percent increase in the same period of the previous year.
According to National News Agency Nepal, this data comes from a report titled ‘Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal based on three months data of 2025/26’, published by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The report highlights that from mid-September to mid-October, remittance inflows were Rs 201.22 billion, up from Rs 144.17 billion in the previous year.
In US Dollar terms, remittance inflows increased by 29.2 percent to 3.94 billion during the review period, compared to a 10.6 percent rise in the same timeframe last year. Net secondary income (net transfer) also saw growth, reaching Rs 610.61 billion, up from Rs 443.76 billion in the previous year.
The report further indicates that the number of Nepali workers obtaining first-time approval for foreign employment stands at 123,459, with 77,257 seeking approval for re-entry. In the same period last year, these figures were 110,654 and 59,939, respectively.
