Butwal: The Revenue Department has filed a case against two individuals accused of illegally importing goods used for packaging alcohol. These packaging items were allegedly imported by evading customs duties, and their value runs into millions of rupees.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Revenue Investigation Office in Butwal has initiated legal proceedings against the two individuals, seeking the recovery of Rs 52 million and a fine for customs evasion. The illegally imported items in question were lids for bottled drinks.
Office Chief Bibek Ghimire stated that the individuals who have been arrested and charged are Sashank Khanal from Belhiya, Siddharthanagar-1, and Ramesh Gautam from Chaurideurali Rural Municipality-4, Kavrepalanchowk. The case has been filed at the Butwal bench of the High Court in Tulsipur.
The charges have been brought against them under the Revenue Leakage (Investigative and Control) Act, 2052.
