RTDF Needed for Madhes Province as Well: Minister Gurung

Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has emphasized the necessity of implementing the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund (RTDF) in the Madhes Province. The Minister highlighted that Madhes, being the second most populous province in Nepal after Bagamati, requires this project to enhance its telecommunications infrastructure.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Gurung addressed a program held to commemorate the signing and exchange of an agreement to implement the RTDF in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. During his speech, he stressed the importance of extending the RTDF to Madhes based on necessity, and he suggested revising existing policies to facilitate this expansion.

Minister Gurung also urged for an acceleration in digitalization efforts to achieve objectives such as good governance, corruption control, and improved efficiency in public service delivery. He pointed out the current inadequacies in infrastructure necessary for the development of artificial intelligence (AI), advocating for increased investments in constructing IT parks, AI infrastructures, and data centers.
