The Kaligandaki Corridor that remained blocked for five days due to landslides has come into operation. The corridor was blocked since last Friday after landslides occurred at various places on the Rudraveni-Hermichour and Purtighat road sections in Gulmi.
The landslides debris in Gargare, Mulk, Patikhola and Baralwa were removed with the help of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality and Kalika Construction, thereby opening the road for traffic, said Bed Bahadur Thapa, Chair of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality.
However, the road leading to Baglung still remains blocked. The Tamghas-Ridi road section under the Madanbhandari highway came into operation since Tuesday morning. The road was opened for traffic after the landslide debris was removed in Birbas located in Gulmi Darbar rural municipality-4 of.
The District Administration Office has requested the citizens to remain alert to avoid flash floods during the rainy season. Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Sharma also requested to report about any incident or p
roblem to the nearest police office, local municipality or administration immediately.
