Rule of Law and Constitutionalism Emphasized by Speaker and NA Chair in Government Formation


Kathmandu: Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal have emphasized that the rule of law and constitutionalism should not be bypassed in the formation of the government. They released a joint press statement urging commitment to a stronger democracy that addresses the demands of agitated groups.



According to National News Agency Nepal, President Ramchandra Paudel is actively working to navigate the country through a constitutional process, prioritizing sovereignty, independence, geographical integrity, and national unity. The statement from the Speaker and NA Chair expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and properties during the GenZ demonstration on September 8 and 9. They paid tribute to those who lost their lives and extended condolences to their families.



The leaders wished for the speedy recovery of those injured and called on state bodies to provide necessary medical treatment. They expressed deep sadness over the vandalism and arson targeting public properties, including the Federal Parliament building, Singha Durbar, government offices, private homes, media outlets, business complexes, and historical documents on September 9.
