SAFF winners Bangladesh U-20 national football team
met Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain at National Sports
Council on Thursday evening.
Bangladesh has achieved a unique glory by winning the maiden title of SAFF U-
20 Championship beating host Nepal by 4-1 goals in the final. Sports Adviser
congratulated the players of the Bangladesh team on their success.
After returning home in the afternoon, the players of the team were taken to
the National Sports Council where the Sports Adviser greeted the players and
officials of the team with bouquet of flowers for the success.
He said: “The new Bangladesh gifted by the students through the July
revolution has been reflected in the football field. It has to be ensured
that this streak of achievement and success continues.”
The Sports Adviser also announced cash prize of Taka twenty five thousand to
each member of the winning team. He believes that the success of the youth
would boost the country’s sports arena as a whole.
