Schools Directed to Refund Illegally Collected Fee

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed all concerned schools to refund illegally collected fees: The ministry issued a press statement on Wednesday, instructing all concerned to refund the amount after receiving complaints that some institutional schools were enrolling students before the start of the academic session 2083 and charging fees higher than the approved standards, in violation of the prevailing law and the order of the esteemed Supreme Court.

According to National News Agency Nepal, despite previous directives, complaints have been received that some institutional schools are still charging fees illegally. As a result, all concerned are directed to refund the illegally collected fees to students in accordance with Section 16 D (6) of the Education Act (amended), 2028, as stated in the ministry’s announcement.

The Ministry has also requested the Ministry of Home Affairs, concerned District Administration Offices, and local levels for necessary coordination and monitoring in case any school is found to have acted otherwise. This move aims to ensure compliance with the directives and uphold the legal standards set for educational institutions.

In addition, the Ministry has established a Help Desk at the Education and Human Resource Development Center for the purpose of reporting and facilitating student complaints and grievances. Further assistance can be obtained by calling the same desk, with Director Nimprakash Singh Rathour serving as the focal point. He can be reached at phone number 9851-214638 or via email at [email protected].
