Lalitpur: The second day of the CPN (UML) Statute Congress at the Sunrise Conference Centre in Godawari has successfully concluded with the completion of group discussions on seven key reports.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the closed session involved representatives who were strategically divided into ten distinct groups based on provincial and structural affiliations, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as special valley provinces and various organizational bodies.
The discussions, which commenced at 8 AM, were organized to facilitate in-depth deliberations on the presented reports. The head of UML’s publicity and publication department, Rajendra Gautam, explained that group leaders will now put forward suggestions reflecting their group’s stance. These suggestions will be addressed by Prime Minister and Party Chair KP Sharma Oli, aiming for a comprehensive response to the feedback received.
Key presentations at the congress included the political report by Party Chair Oli, a proposal for statute amendments by Vice Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel, and an organizational report by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel. Additionally, reports from the Central Advisory Council, Central Discipline Commission, Central Accounting Commission, and Central Election Commission were presented by their respective chairmen.
The session also involved a discussion on a proposal concerning the dissenting opinion of standing committee member Karna Thapa. Gautam further noted an agenda item for the election of the Central Election Commission, scheduled for the final day of the congress.
With the overarching theme of “Decisive National Strength Building is our resolution: Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali National Destination,” the convention has attracted a significant gathering of 2,341 participants. This includes 2,026 representatives from nationwide constituencies and an additional 315 organizers, all contributing to the deliberative process set to conclude with the passing of contemporary proposals.
