Kathmandu: Chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has emphasized that a self-reliant economy aligns with socialist principles, promoting development and sustainable growth. In his address at a convention of industrialists and entrepreneurs affiliated with his party, he highlighted the importance of industrial production in building a robust economy. He stressed the need for a balanced import-export strategy in line with socialist policies, suggesting that increased exports would benefit the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the former Prime Minister noted the importance of concentrating scattered capital on industrial development and investment growth. He highlighted the critical roles of production and service sectors in Nepal’s current economic landscape.
Chairman Nepal further stated that socialism is a key tool in addressing issues like exploitation, oppression, corruption, and unemployment. He called for a unified effort from leftist, progressive, patriotic, democratic, and socialist forces to implement socialism effectively. He also pointed out that social security schemes are integral to socialism and identified agriculture, infrastructure, and industry as sectors needing investment for growth and development in the country.
The chairman argued that it is time to ensure socioeconomic transformation with social justice, equality, and inclusiveness.
