Chitwan: Six cases of malaria were detected in Chitwan district in the past two months. The cases were detected from among the patients visiting different health care facilities in Chitwan during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Public Health Office in Chitwan reported that three cases were seen in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, two in Khairahani Municipality, and one in Rapti Municipality. Dinesh Rupakheti, the Chief of the Office, noted that the infected individuals were aged between 34 and 44 years.
Rupakheti further explained that the infection was primarily found in individuals returning from foreign employment and from other districts within the country. Among the infected, four had returned from India, one from South Korea, and another was working in Sunsari district.
In comparison, the district recorded ten malaria cases in the last fiscal year. Malaria is primarily transmitted to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, and tiredness. Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the surroundings and using mosquito nets to protect against mosquito bites.
