Sonal Appointed as Madhes Province CM


Kathmandu: Leader of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal, Jitendra Prasad Sonal, has been appointed Chief Minister of Madhes Province. Chief of Madhes Province, Sumitra Subedi Bhandari, appointed Sonal to the post in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Province Chief Bhandari had set 4:00 pm today afternoon as a deadline for the new leadership. Sonal was appointed as the Chief Minister after 57 province assembly members from six political parties, excluding Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), staked their claim.



Sonal presented a majority of support before the Province Chief for forming a new government. He secured backing from his party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, along with Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Janamat Party, CPN (Maoist Centre), and CPN (Unified Socialist).
