CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ urged the government to spare no efforts in rescue and relief operation of those affected by flood at Thame village in Solukhumbu district.
Chairman Dahal, taking to social media today afternoon, said that the flood occurred by the bursting of a glacial lake at Thame area in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 had caused a huge loss of human lives and properties and posed a risk for humans in the coastal area.
Dahal urged, “I would like to urge the world community yet again to consider qualitatively increasing the scope of the international assistance to protect Nepal from risks of climate change whilst appealing with the government of Nepal to spare no efforts for relief and rescue works for the affected ones.”
Sharing that human lives in mountainous regions were facing multifaceted risks due to negative effects of climate change, he voiced his concern over the melting of glaciers in the mountains.

s like Nepal were facing the repercussions of the mistakes they had not committed. “The glacier melt in the mountains continue while glacial lakes are bursting. Natural disasters such as flood and landslide are causing a huge loss of lives and properties in the coastal area,” he worried.
On the occasion, he mentioned that he had raised his voice on the climate justice in various international platforms such as the United Nations General Assembly and the COP-28.
