Strengthening Research Activities in Universities Stressed


Khulna: Special Assistant to the Adviser on the Ministry of Education Prof. Aminul Islam today laid emphasis on strengthening research activities in the universities aimed at improving the living standard of people of the country. ‘Universities should play an effective role to improve living standard of people through strengthening research activities… all research must be welfare-oriented,’ he said while exchanging views with administration and teachers of Khulna University (KU) here today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof. Aminul Islam highlighted the importance of selecting and conducting impactful research that can benefit the general public, as they expect more from researchers to improve their living and livelihood conditions. The meeting, chaired by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rezaul Karim, was also addressed by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Harunor Rashid Khan, Treasurer Prof Nurunnabi, International Affairs Director Prof Ashique-Ur-Rahman, and Registrar Prof Mahbubur Rahman.



The special assistant emphasized the urgent need for research that is both welfare-oriented and realistic, with the potential to significantly improve the living conditions of marginalized communities. He stressed the importance of transforming small research projects into larger, impactful ones that align with the hopes and aspirations of the masses.



Prof. Aminul assured that if research benefits marginalized people, funding will not be an issue. He acknowledged KU’s success in agricultural production on saline lands in coastal areas. Later, he attended another meeting with teachers at BL College.
