Sudurpaschim Province Allocates Budget for Tourism and Healthcare Developments

Siena:Sudurpaschim The Sudurpaschim Province government has dedicated significant funds for infrastructure development in the region, focusing on both tourism and healthcare. A total of 32.5 million rupees has been set aside for a feasibility study to explore the operation of a cable car in the Badimalika religious and tourist area in Bajura. This initiative aims to boost tourism by facilitating access to this significant site.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Provincial Minister of Economic Affairs Chakra Bahadur Malla announced the budget allocation during the presentation to the Provincial Assembly for the fiscal year 2026/27. The province plans to begin a public-private partnership model for the cable car project under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) framework. Additionally, the extension of electricity lines to the Badimalika area is planned for this year.

A further budget of 61 million rupees has been allocated for the development of infrastructure at Khaptad National Park. This includes the construction of a pagoda-style temple to reflect the identity of Sudurpashchim, a golden bridge, and the extension of electricity lines in the Trivenidham area. The park, located at the junction of Bajura, Bajhang, Achham, and Doti, currently suffers from a lack of electricity, affecting local residents, security personnel, and tourists alike.

In the healthcare sector, Kolti Basic Hospital in Budhinanda Municipality, Bajura, is set for an upgrade to a provincial hospital. Minister Malla indicated that this development is part of a broader strategy to enhance access to specialized health services. A budget of 60 million rupees has been allocated for the upgrading of both Kolti Basic Hospital in Bajura and Gokuleshwor Hospital in Darchula, including the necessary infrastructure and human resource improvements.
