Dipayal: Nearly 300 people have been infected with dengue fever over the past eight months across the districts of Sudurpaschim Province.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Health Directorate in Dipayal confirmed that a total of 288 dengue cases were recorded, with the Kailali district reporting the highest number of cases, followed by Achham and Kanchanpur districts.
Kailali district reported 65 dengue cases, while Achham and Kanchanpur recorded 41 and 32 cases, respectively. Even the mountainous districts of Darchula and Bajura did not remain untouched by the outbreak, recording four and 18 cases, respectively.
The Directorate further reported that Dadeldhura, Doti, Bajhang, and Baitadi districts combined had 88 confirmed cases of dengue fever. Hemraj Joshi, the Vector Control Officer at the Directorate, emphasized the importance of community precautionary measures from June to October, as this period sees the highest transmission rates.
Joshi recommended a community-led ‘search and destroy of larva’ initiative to combat the spread of the disease at the local level.
