Dubai: Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib emphasized the significance of their lone practice match against Pakistan Shaheens at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai, as it will provide crucial insights into the wicket ahead of their Champions Trophy opener against India on February 19.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tanzim explained in a video message from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that the practice game is a key opportunity to understand the playing conditions. “It’s very crucial to gather knowledge about the wicket,” he stated. “We’ll get to know which delivery is effective here. We will also try to understand which delivery will give the batters a tough time.”
Bangladesh is grouped in Group A, alongside India, Pakistan, and New Zealand. Following their game against India in Dubai, Bangladesh will head to Rawalpindi to play Pakistan and New Zealand on February 24 and 27, respectively. The team arrived in Dubai on Friday to begin their preparations and commenced training on Saturday.
Tanzim shared his satisfaction with the team’s practice sessions in Dubai, noting the importance of recovery after their arrival. “We came to Dubai by a long flight at night. So we took a rest the next day,” he mentioned. “After taking rest, we felt good and started our practice. We are feeling really well since we had a good recovery.”
He further detailed their training regimen, highlighting the balance between gym work and net practice. “Firstly we had a gym session and then we spent some time in net. Everything went really well. What is most important thing is that we are feeling well. And so we had a nice feeling in the practice.”
