Task Force Formed to Prepare Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan

Kathmandu: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) is set to develop the National Action Plan 2083 aimed at enhancing monsoon-related preparedness and response. An 18-member task force has been established, led by Joint Secretary Roshani Kumari Shrestha, who heads the NDRRMA Policy, Planning and Monitoring Division.

According to National News Agency Nepal, NDRRMA spokesperson Under Secretary Shanti Mahat announced the formation of the task force and confirmed that efforts are underway to draft the Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan 2083. The task force comprises representatives from federal ministries, departments, disaster-related authorities, and all three security agencies.

The action plan aims to ensure coordinated involvement of federal, provincial, and local governments, security bodies, and partner organizations in preparedness and response activities. This approach seeks to effectively address potential monsoon-related disasters and reduce loss of life and property.

Ram Kumar KC, the NDRRMA Under Secretary, and a task force member, stated that representatives have a week to submit suggestions. He assured that the work plan would be prepared on time. A task force meeting is scheduled for next week to discuss the topics for inclusion in the action plan.

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung recently directed the NDRRMA to develop timely response plans and enhance disaster management capabilities during a program held at the Authority.
