Jhapa: Three people have died in disaster-related incidents that occurred in Jhapa, Dhanusha, and Mahottari districts in the last 24 hours, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
According to National News Agency Nepal, the NDRRMA spokesperson Shanti Mahat reported that a five-year-old boy lost his life after being bitten by a cobra on the foot while playing in Lalpani, Shivasatakshi Municipality in Jhapa district. The child succumbed to the bite while en route to the Snakebite Treatment Centre at Charali.
In a separate incident in Dhanusha district, a 43-year-old woman from Campus Chowk, Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-4, died from burn injuries. The NDRRMA indicated that while refilling oil in a lamp during Lakshmi Puja, the flame accidentally ignited her clothing, leading to severe injuries. She passed away during treatment at the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur.
Additionally, a gas leak in a house located in Sangamtol, Ward No. 1, Bardibas Municipality, Mahottari, resulted in a fire that claimed the life of a 65-year-old man. The Authority stated that the man, who suffered burns on 90 percent of his body, was airlifted to the burn hospital in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, but died during treatment.
The NDRRMA bulletin further revealed that 16 disaster-related incidents took place in the last 24 hours, with three individuals sustaining injuries in different locations.
