Shanghai: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, on an official visit to China, today urged Chinese automobile companies to consider establishing an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. He made the call while visiting a high-tech electric vehicle manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Shanghai, which produces approximately 500 EV units daily, the foreign ministry said in a press release here.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain also met with the Acting Mayor of Shanghai and emphasized the need for enhanced business-to-business and people-to-people engagements between Dhaka and Shanghai. The Acting Mayor extended an invitation to Bangladesh to participate in the ‘Shanghai Tourism Festival’ set to be held this year.
Additionally, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain exchanged views with a delegation from the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce yesterday evening. During the discussion, they focused on the relocation of Chinese manufacturing plants to Bangladesh, particularly to the Chinese Special Economic Zone in Chattogram, and the potential for establishing air connectivity between Chattogram and Shanghai.
