Tourism Day Celebrations Bring New Hope to Mustang


Mustang: The World Tourism Day was observed in Mustang, the religious and touristic district, by organising various events today.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Jomsom and Lomanthang-based offices separately organised the programmes to mark the Day.



On the occasion, domestic and international tourists were welcomed at Jomsom, Ghansa, and Lomanthang by offering khada and flowers. Deepak Oli, Assistant for Natural Resource Conservation at ACAP, Jomsom, mentioned that foreign tourists arriving at Jomsom Airport at Gharpajhong Rural Municipality-3 were greeted with local music. The ACAP, Jomsom, organised the programme in coordination and collaboration with the Puthang Mothers Group and Jomsom Women Group, he added.



Similarly, various programmes, including dialogues with tourists, were held, where tourists were briefed about the cultural, religious, and touristic destinations in the district, stated Umesh Poudel, Office Chief of ACAP, Lomanthang. With the arrival of tourists, tourism entrepreneurs in Mustang district are hopeful for a revival of their businesses, which were previously affected by the Gen-Z protests.



Moreover, the resumption of air service along the Pokhara-Jomson route from Friday is anticipated to revitalize tourism businesses and activities in the region.
