Kathmandu: With the intensification of the monsoon across the nation, the likelihood of road accidents due to rainfall has escalated. Meanwhile, traffic police have called upon all vehicle drivers to exercise the highest level of caution through microphone announcements.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), during the rainy season, road surfaces become slick, visibility diminishes, and the potential for landslides and flooding rises significantly. Consequently, the traffic police have commenced urging drivers to be particularly careful through microphone announcements.
He noted, “Based on the latest weather predictions, the monsoon is projected to remain active for the next three days, thus operating vehicles during this period poses risks. Therefore, to inform drivers, we have initiated public announcements at key checkpoints and heavily trafficked areas of the valley.”
The chief traffic police officer indicated that traffic police personnel have been stationed at major exit points from the Kathmandu valley, including Nagdhunga, Sanga, Thankot, Balaju, and Satdobato, and since last night, they had begun issuing verbal notifications and making announcements to drivers.
