Traffic Resumes on BP Highway After Three-Day Disruption

Bhaktapur: Vehicular movement along the BP highway, which had been halted for the past three days due to landslides and flooding, has resumed as of this morning. The disruption occurred following a series of landslides at various locations on the Chaukidanda-Nepalthok section, situated towards Kavrepalanchowk along the highway.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the traffic flow has been restored after the removal of landslide debris and the construction of a road diversion. Senior Divisional Engineer at the Division Road Office in Bhaktapur, Suman Yogesh, explained that a 50-meter diversion was constructed in Roshi rural municipality-8 in Kavre to facilitate the resumption of vehicular movement. Challenges were faced in constructing the diversion and clearing the landslide debris due to the occurrence of dry landslides.

The landslides, triggered by incessant rainfall since October 30, had completely obstructed the Chaukidanda-Nepalthok section of the BP highway. The restoration efforts have now allowed for the reopening of this crucial route, ensuring the resumption of transportation and connectivity in the region.
