Kathmandu: The Commission formed to investigate the September 8-9 Gen Z Movement has barred Chandra Kuber Khapung, who retired as the Inspector General of Police today, from travelling abroad. Khapung, who was serving as the chief of Nepal Police during the Gen Z Movement, is now restricted from leaving the country and traveling outside the Valley without prior permission from the Commission.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Commission Spokesperson Bigyan Raj Sharma stated that the decision was made in a meeting held today. The travel restrictions were imposed due to the possibility that Khapung may need to appear before the inquiry body at any time for investigation into the matters related to the movement.
Additionally, the Commission had previously imposed similar travel restrictions on five others, including former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, also in connection with the Gen Z Movement.
