Tundi Power Company Completes Two Hydropower Projects in Rahughat


Myagdi: The Tundi Power Company has developed two hydropower projects simultaneously in the Rahughat river, located in the Raghuganga Rural Municipality of Myagdi district. The newly constructed projects have successfully connected their power output to the central grid system, marking a significant achievement for the region.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the projects are based on the run-of-river type and have commenced commercial production following successful test transmissions. Pushpa Dangi, Manager of Tundi Power Company, confirmed that the Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale Hydropower Project, with a capacity of 35.5 megawatts, and its cascade, the Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project, with a capacity of 48.5 megawatts, have begun generating power.



The Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale Hydropower Project has been in commercial production since August, while the Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project is nearing its commercial production phase. The construction of these projects was completed in four years, with a total development cost of around Rs 13 billion.



The electromechanical work for the projects was handled by Everest Hydro. The hydro-mechanical component was completed by Machhapuchhre Metals and Machinery, and the civil construction was carried out by Ramechhap Sherpa Construction Company.



Chairman of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Bhaba Bahadur Bhandari, mentioned that two additional hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 63.5 megawatts are in their final phase within the rural municipality. Chairman Bhandari noted that the Rahughat Hydropower Project and the Upper Duikhola Hydropower Project are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
