Dhaka: Police today arrested two active members of a notorious auto-rickshaw hijacking gang from the capital for their link with the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver, Ushan Miah. The arrestees were identified as Falan Bhuiyan alias Akash, 29, and Habibur Rahman alias Habib, 34, according to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, members of Demra Police Station raided the Dhalpur area of Jatrabari and nabbed Falan Bhuiyan in the early hours of today. Later, based on the information provided by him, Habib was arrested from the Mugda area.
Ushan Miah’s elder brother, Md Shuja Miah, filed a murder case with Demra Police Station after his brother went missing with his auto-rickshaw on January 21. His body was found in the DND canal near Demra the next day.
During the initial quizzing, the arrestees admitted their involvement in the murder. Three others accused in the case were arrested earlier. They are Md Mosa Akhi Akhter, 32, Md Nazim Hossain, 42, and Md Aman Hossain, 37.
