Nuwakot: Two houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Jalkuni of Kakani rural municipality-1 in the Nuwakot district. The incident led to the complete loss of property, including money, jewelry, food grains, clothes, and utensils, with the total damage estimated to be approximately Rs 10 million.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Nuwakot, Bikram Lama, reported that the fire originated from a short circuit in the house of a local resident, Balram Balami. The fire then spread to other houses in the vicinity. Despite the destruction, the collaborative rescue efforts by locals and security personnel ensured the safety of both humans and livestock.
The affected houses, constructed from mud and stone, succumbed to the blaze. In response to the disaster, Kakani rural municipality has erected temporary shelters for the displaced families. Additionally, the District Administration Office in Nuwakot has been advised to provide financial assistance, while the District Red Cross is expected to offer non-monetary support to those impacted by the fire.
