Westerly Winds Expected to Bring Unsettled Weather to Nepal

Kathmandu:Nepal’s weather is anticipated to become increasingly unsettled from midweek as Westerly winds are predicted to bring rain and snowfall to parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions over the next five days.

According to National News Agency RSS, meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane from the Nepal Meteorological Department reported that while most of the country will experience clear weather today, some cloud cover is expected in the Himalayan region. By Monday night, clouds are likely to develop in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces due to the partial influence of Westerly winds.

On Tuesday, partial cloud cover is anticipated in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces as well as the Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashim Provinces. The likelihood of rain and snowfall is expected to increase from Wednesday, especially in the Himalayan and hilly areas of these four provinces. Light precipitation may persist in some areas on Thursday and Friday.

The Nepal Meteorological Department has warned that the changing weather could impact travel plans and outdoor activities, particularly in mountainous regions. Tourists, trekkers, and mountaineers are urged to remain cautious and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts. Additionally, rain and snowfall may disrupt daily activities and transport in affected areas, prompting travellers and local residents to prepare for possible weather-related disruptions.
