Janakpur: Nepali Congress Madhes province parliamentary party leader, Krishna Prasad Yadav, has announced that the party plans to file a case at the Supreme Court, challenging the appointment process of the new Chief Minister as illegal. The decision comes in response to the recent appointment of Saroj Kumar Yadav, the CPN UML Madhes province parliamentary party leader, to the post of Chief Minister.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Yadav addressed media persons during a protest program organized shortly after the appointment was made. He clarified that the party is preparing to approach the Supreme Court for a legal resolution, supported by the signatures of 74 Province Assembly members, excluding those from UML.
The political development follows the resignation of Jitendra Prasad Sonal, leader of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, from the Chief Minister’s post. Sonal stepped down due to an unfavorable environment for securing a vote of confidence. In light of these events, seven political parties, including the Nepali Congress, are gearing up for a legal battle after the appointment by Madhes Province Chief Sumitra Bhandari.
