World Post Day Celebrated Globally with Focus on Enhanced Postal Services

Kathmandu: The World Post Day 2025 is being observed globally, including in Nepal today. The day marks the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was founded in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the UPU has encouraged all member countries to participate in a global social media campaign themed “Post for People: Local Service. Global Reach.” The campaign invites contributions in the form of photos or short videos that highlight this theme.

In a statement commemorating the day, Masahiko Metoki, Director General of the UPU, a specialized agency of the UN dedicated to international postal cooperation and development, urged collective efforts to ensure that postal services continue to offer quality services universally. He emphasized the need for a more accessible, reliable, and inclusive postal network to connect local communities worldwide.

In Nepal, the occasion is being marked by organizing a range of events aimed at enhancing public awareness and engagement
with postal services.
