Dhaka: A writ was filed at the High Court today, pleading for its direction to probe allegations of corruption against the chairman of National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). Supreme Court lawyer Md Kamal Hossain filed the writ today, making officials concerned, including the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman and the Education Secretary respondents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, NCTB has faced accusations of issuing work orders for printing books without calling for fresh tenders. The owners of the printing presses reportedly submitted tenders that were approximately 21 percent higher than the estimated price. Md Kamal Hossain told newsmen that by awarding the work order under these circumstances, NCTB has misused state funds. Prior to filing the writ, Hossain lodged an application with the ACC seeking action on the matter.
